DN Van Lines gave me a great quote for a recent move from the North Shore to MetroWest. They were friendly and courteous when I discussed it with them and did what was agreed upon in a timely manner. The owner of the company called me personally to check that everything was hunky dory. I'm happy with them.
Movers Dedham MA: Local, Long-Distance & Commercial Moving Services
Dedham movers trusted for local, long-distance & commercial moves in the historic Norfolk County seat. Packing, storage & free estimates.
Dedham's original settlers wanted to name the town "Contentment" back in 1636, and while the Massachusetts General Court overruled them in favor of Dedham, the motto stuck and still appears on the town seal today. As the county seat of Norfolk County, Dedham is home to the county courthouse and a genuine mix of historic and modern life — it's also home to the Fairbanks House, built around 1637 and recognized as the oldest surviving timber-frame house in North America, and to the site of the first taxpayer-funded public school in the country, established in 1643. DN Van Lines has handled movers in Dedham, MA, relocations since 2003, and a move here can mean anything from a home in one of Dedham's historic districts to newer construction near Legacy Place. Dedham MA movers who don't account for that range of housing stock tend to underestimate how different one Dedham job can be from the next.
Local Moving Services in Dedham, MA
Dedham's neighborhoods range from dense older sections near the town center and courthouse to more spread-out residential areas toward Westwood and Norwood. Streets near Dedham Square can be tight, and older homes in the historic districts sometimes come with narrower staircases and doorways than newer construction near Legacy Place. Precinct One, in the northwest corner of town near the Westwood and Needham lines, brings its own mix of housing styles, distinct from those in the denser sections closer to the courthouse. Our local moving services are planned around the specific neighborhood and home type, not a single approach for the whole town.
Long-Distance Moves From Dedham, MA
Dedham's location just southwest of Boston along Interstate 95 makes it a practical departure point for long-distance relocations, whether that's a career move to another region or a retirement move somewhere warmer. Its proximity to Boston's legal and professional employment base also means a fair number of moves tied to career changes among the town's professional population. DN Van Lines operates branches in Sterling, Virginia, Maryland, and Jacksonville, Florida, so a long-distance move from Dedham to any of those regions stays with one federally licensed carrier from pickup to delivery. See our full long-distance moving services for how interstate pricing and scheduling work.
Commercial & Office Moves in Dedham, MA
As the Norfolk County seat, Dedham has a steady base of legal, government, and professional office activity around the courthouse and town center, alongside retail growth near Legacy Place, an open-air shopping and dining destination that draws visitors from across the region. Our commercial and office moving teams schedule Dedham business relocations for evenings and weekends to avoid disrupting operations, and coordinate IT disconnect/reconnect timing so systems are down for the shortest possible window.
Packing Services for Dedham, MA Homes
Dedham's older homes, particularly those near the historic town center, sometimes include antique furniture, built-ins, and fixtures that call for custom crating rather than standard box-and-wrap treatment. Our packing services cover exactly that, along with full-service pack/unpack for anyone who'd rather not spend a week wrapping glassware themselves. Newer homes closer to Legacy Place tend to be easier to pack, but often come with more furniture and larger rooms overall, which shifts the packing timeline in the other direction.
Storage Options Near Dedham, MA
Not every Dedham move lines up neatly between an old lease and a new one, and our storage services cover that gap with short-term bridging storage and longer-term storage for anyone downsizing from a larger home. All storage is climate-controlled, which matters for antiques and furniture common in Dedham's older housing stock, particularly given how many homes near the historic districts have stayed in the same family for generations.
The September 1st Moving Rush in Dedham, MA
Dedham feels the broader Massachusetts September 1st lease-turnover rush alongside the rest of the Boston metro area, particularly in its denser rental sections near the town center. Truck rentals and moving crews book up months in advance across the region, so if your Dedham move falls anywhere near September 1st, book 6-8 weeks out at minimum. If your dates are flexible, shifting even a few days off that peak window usually means an easier day and a better rate.
Winter Moving Tips for Dedham, MA
Dedham's older streets near the town center can get tight once snow piles up along the curbs, so planning parking ahead of time matters more in winter than in other seasons. Ice on older steps and walkways near Dedham's historic districts is a real hazard for a crew carrying furniture, so we bring floor and threshold protection as standard on every winter move. If you have flexibility in your move date in January or February, building in a buffer for a possible nor'easter is worth the peace of mind.
What Moving Day Looks Like With Dedham Movers
Our crews arrive within a confirmed window and walk the space with you first, noting fragile items and confirming the plan for stairs, driveways, or tight doorways before anything gets lifted. We lay down floor runners and door-jamb protection at both ends of the move, whether it's a historic home near Dedham Square or newer construction near Legacy Place. Every shipment carries federally required valuation coverage at minimum, and we'll walk you through full-value protection options for higher-value items. For local Dedham moves, most jobs wrap in a single day; for long-distance moves to Virginia, Maryland, or Florida, we'll give you a realistic delivery window up front.
Serving Dedham, MA and Nearby Communities
Dedham sits at the center of a cluster of Norfolk County towns we serve heavily, and plenty of our Dedham clients are moving to or from right next door. We regularly handle moves between Dedham and neighboring Needham, Westwood, Norwood, and the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston — all a short drive from Dedham Square and served by the same Northborough-based fleet, so a short move between any of these communities doesn't add cost or complexity.
Why Dedham Movers Choose DN Van Lines
DN Van Lines has been independently owned and operating in Massachusetts since 2003. Every mover on our trucks is a background-checked, W-2 employee, never day labor or an unfamiliar subcontracted crew. We're A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau, federally licensed under USDOT 1141917, and approved for Department of Defense and GSA relocations — worth checking before hiring any Dedham moving company for a job involving real money and real belongings, especially given the age and value of many homes near Dedham's historic districts. What Our Customers Say
Verified reviews from people who have moved with DN Van Lines.
I just completed a move from Boston to NYC, and I can't believe how stress-free DN made it. The communication was spectacular — courteous calls, warm confirmation check-ins, and timely 30-minute warning calls. The movers themselves were absolutely prepared and professional in both demeanor and expertise. They knew all the secrets that made the load and unload more efficient. I have zero regrets going with them — their high rating is absolutely earned.
What a wonderful experience! The moving team arrived on time and was efficient and polite. They wrapped all my large furniture in blankets and there was not a scratch on anything. They packed my kitchen with care. In the end the move cost me LESS than the quote I received. I HIGHLY recommend DN Van Lines.
The movers arrived on time and were polite, well spoken, and worked quickly. The office team was really helpful in making a reservation and responded quickly. All in all a great experience.
This past weekend we had a wonderful moving experience with DN Van Lines. Specifically, Brad and Gabriel were incredible — be sure to ask for them as a team! They were efficient, swift, and hard-working. More importantly, they treated our belongings with care and were kind and personable to boot.
When DN Van Lines gave me a time estimate for the move, I was thinking to myself ''They can't get it done that quickly, can they?'' Not only was the estimate accurate, but the movers actually came in UNDER the time estimate. Tony and Lou were fast, efficient, and easy-going. Nothing was broken, everything was placed where I asked. A+ all the way.
I've used these guys twice in two years for my previous moves. Everyone from the customer service reps to the movers is very professional, efficient, and super friendly. On my last move, they even took the time to assemble my bed and they even repaired my end tables which were always wobbly. I don't plan on moving for a few years, but next time I do, I'm calling these guys.
100% satisfied. Pedro, Ever, and Mayron were an excellent crew. Helpful, courteous, and polite. They worked well as a team and kept a quick pace during a 90 degree day. The crew also assisted with removing and reinstalling a railing and front door to allow furniture to make it into our home. Highly recommend.
